Faridabad: A 55-year-old woman died in Ballabhgarh on Wednesday morning after her washroom, built on a portion of her balcony, collapsed, burying her under debris.
Police are looking into the condition of the one-storey house in Subhash Colony and other factors that may have contributed to the accident.
According to family members and neighbours, the structure collapsed around 6am when Jayvati had just entered the washroom. Hearing the crash, people rushed out of their homes and began clearing the rubble to rescue her. Hearing the crash, people stepped out of their homes and began removing the rubble. By the time she was pulled out, she had already died. Jayvati worked as a daily wager and was well known in the locality. Adarsh Nagar station house officer Manoj Kumar said further proceedings were underway.
In another incident, a 12-year-old boy fell into a canal near the Sector 17 bypass in Faridabad on Wednesday afternoon while chasing a kite, resulting in a massive search operation by police, SDRF personnel and locals. Farhan, a Class VII student and resident of Prem Nagar, was still missing when this report was filed.
