Gurgaon: A 12-year-old boy sustained a serious head injury after being hit by an SUV near Sector 14.
Prayansh Narang was returning home after playing at a tennis academy when the accident occurred around 7pm on Monday. According to the complaint filed by his maternal uncle, Deepak Chawala, the boy was struck by a Grand Vitara SUV. He alleged that the vehicle was being driven negligently.
A woman present at the spot stopped the vehicle and took the boy to Kalyani Hospital in Sector 14 in the same car that had struck him. She then informed the child’s family.
Police said they received information about the accident through an emergency response vehicle (ERV) and brought the driver, Gopal, to the police station. They conducted a medical examination and an alcohol consumption test on him. As no complaint was received at that time, he was released.
On Tuesday, an officer, HC Mainpal, visited Kalyani Hospital and collected the child’s medico-legal case report. The child was later referred to Fortis Hospital, where he was admitted to the emergency ward.
An FIR was registered under Sections 125(A) (rash or negligent acts that endanger human life or personal safety) and 281 (rash driving) of the BNS at Sector 14 police station. Further investigation is underway and the driver will be arrested soon.
