Outgoing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged serious irregularities during the vote counting process, claiming that BJP-linked individuals and security personnel entered polling stations and assaulted counting agents, disrupting the process. She said counting agents were forced to withdraw and that she was leading by around 30,000 votes with several rounds remaining. Banerjee also alleged that she was physically manhandled inside the counting venue and that CCTV cameras were switched off during the incident, raising concerns over transparency and security. She further stated that several INDIA alliance leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Akhilesh Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, and Hemant Soren, contacted her to express solidarity. Banerjee added that opposition unity would continue to strengthen in the coming days.
