Visakhapatnam: State municipal administration minister P Narayana conducted a review meeting on the VMRDA master plan and the overall development of the Visakhapatnam region at the VMRDA office in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. People’s representatives from the erstwhile combined Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts participated in the meeting.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Narayana announced the construction of a 102-kilometre semi-ring road from Rambilli to Bhogapuram. “The detailed project report for this proposed semi-ring road will be ready by the end of the month. To address the drinking water needs of Visakhapatnam residents, the government will take up a massive Rs 14,000 crore water supply project. Once completed, 95% of households in Vizag city will receive direct drinking water supply,” said Narayana.
“For a city to develop, a master plan is essential. We reviewed it with public representatives and officials at length. We also discussed the master plan petitions received during the meeting. The government has taken into account thousands of objections raised on the master plan prepared in 2021. Nearly 3,720 objections were received on the VMRDA master plan, which covers 6,836 square kilometres.
And that 90% of the petitions brought by MLAs have been resolved,” he added.
The minister said that VMRDA is building seven connecting roads from Vizag city to Bhogapuram airport, three of which are already complete. A beach corridor to the airport has also been proposed, he said.
Local MLAs and senior officials participated in the meeting and offered suggestions regarding changes to the master plan. State MSME Minister Kondapalli Srinivas, Vizianagaram MP Kalisetti Appala Naidu, and others attended the review meeting.
