Polavaram works on track, say experts

Rajahmundry: An international expert team reviewing the Polavaram project has expressed satisfaction with the progress of works, stating that construction is being carried out in a planned manner, within targeted timelines, and without compromising quality standards.The committee, constituted to assess progress and offer technical guidance, commenced a three-day visit to the project site on Wednesday. Team member Sean Hinchberger inspected the construction area on day one and conducted a detailed review of ongoing works. Following the inspection, Hinchberger and members of the central team appreciated the quality and pace of construction. They noted that recommendations made during earlier review meetings had been effectively implemented, accelerating progress.The team observed that coordinated efforts of the Centre, state government officials, and the construction agency were key to securing approvals and ensuring smooth execution. The delegation also congratulated stakeholders for their collective efforts.Later, the team, along with officials from the Central and State Water Resources Departments, inspected Gap-1 and Gap-2 of the earth-cum-rock fill (ECRF) dam from G-Hill. Representatives of MEIL briefed them on construction methodology and progress. The expert team will continue inspections on Thursday and Friday.
