007 First Light gameplay and mission details
007: First Light steps is different from established film lore and presents new origin story, focusing on a young, newly recruited James Bond. Portrayed by Irish actor Patrick Gibson, this early-career Bond is still finding his footing in the MI6 spy program.
The main campaign sees Bond and his fellow agents hunting down Agent 009, who has gone rogue. Bond gets support from his boss M (Priyanga Burford).
This global pursuit takes Bond to exotic and dangerous locales, which include Carpathian Mountains, the black markets of Aleph and more. It also features villain Bawma, who is portrayed by musician and actor Lenny Kravitz.
The developers at IO Interactive have built 007: First Light around four core gameplay systems, offering players a comprehensive spy fantasy.
The first is observation-based elements. Bond must carefully observe his environment to eavesdrop on vital conversations, pickpocket key items and uncover environmental clues that reveal objectives. The second is instinctive actions where missions demand swift, instinctive decision-making. Players will need to use environmental traps and bluff their way past suspicious guards.
Bond will have access to Q’s inventions, which include classic tools for hacking, lock cutting and quiet takedowns. Gadgets available include a special Q-Watch, a pen, a lighter, a phone, and earphones. Finally, the game encourages players to use both subtle stealth and open aggression.
For those seeking an even greater challenge, 007: First Light introduces the Tactical Simulation (TacSim) mode, focused on intense replayability. While the first two TacSim missions are available early, the full mode only unlocks after players complete the main story campaign.
