Accused of raping minor, man arrested in Mau

Varanasi: After rescuing an 11-year-old girl, who was kidnapped on May 29 and raped, Haldharpur police arrested the accused Danish (21) in Mau district on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.Mau’s CO (Ghosi/Madhuban) Jitendra Singh on Tuesday said that the teams of Haldharpur police station carrying out raids to nab Danish, resident of Mustafabad area, were alerted by informers regarding his movement on the Madaili-Badhanpura road. Police cordoned off the Madaili-Badhanpura gate and tried to stop Danish, as he passed through Basarikpur.On seeing himself surrounded by police, Danish opened fire and tried to escape, but in retaliatory firing by police, he suffered bullet injury in the leg and was nabbed. After recovering from him a firearm and motorcycle, police rushed him to the hospital.
