Attempted jewellery theft foiled in Nemom; 1 held

T’puram: An attempted jewellery theft at a house in Nemom was foiled after the homeowner caught the suspect in the act and alerted police.According to Nemom police, the incident occurred at the residence of a woman living alone in Pappanamcode around 3am on Sunday. The accused has been identified as S Saravanan Kumar (52) of Vallakkadavu.Police said the suspect allegedly entered the house with the intention of stealing jewellery. However, the homeowner noticed his presence and immediately informed police. Acting on the complaint, officers launched a probe and tracked the accused.Nemom police registered a case and arrested Saravanan Kumar. Further investigation is under way.
