Vaiko slams EC over selective election squad raids
Madurai: MDMK general secretary Vaiko on Monday levelled sharp criticism against the Election Commission, accusing the body of "bias and hypocrisy" for frequently inspecting chief minister M K Stalin's vehicle while allegedly exempting top BJP leaders from similar scrutiny.Speaking to reporters in Madurai, Vaiko stated that the election squad frequently inspects the campaign vehicle of Stalin, when he is inside, and questioned whether similar inspections were being conducted on the vehicles of chief ministers of BJP-ruled states."Prime Minister Narendra Modi travels in a vehicle to conduct roadshows; why is his vehicle not subjected to inspections? Would the Election Commission dare to inspect the vehicles of home minister Amit Shah, Union ministers or the Prime Minister? If such inspections are not carried out, the process is clearly biased and hypocritical," said Vaiko.Vaiko also said that irrespective of how many time BJP leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah visit Tamil Nadu with all their force, the NDA cannot win.Vaiko started his campaign from Kadayanallur in Tenkasi district on Monday in support of MDMK candidate T M Rajendran.
