LUCKNOW: UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday announced his government proposal to rename Fazilnagar in Kushinagar district as "Pavagarh" in honor of Lord Mahavir."We have sent a proposal for its renaming. It will no longer be known as Fazilnagar but as Pavagarh. It will be recognized in the name of Lord Mahavir," Yogi said while addressing a gathering during the inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony of 278 development projects worth over Rs 424 crore in Kushinagar. Fazilnagar assembly seat is currently represented by BJP MLA Surendra Kushwaha. Before that it was won by BJP MLA Ganga Kushwaha in 2012 and again in 2017.Taking a swipe at previous governments, Adityanath alleged that before 2022, regions such as Tamkuhiraj and Fazilnagar were reduced to subjects of ridicule rather than receiving attention for development.Praising local representatives, the chief minister said that the demands of the people were being fulfilled through coordinated efforts of the area's MLA and Member of Parliament.Emphasizing the BJP government's commitment to development and cultural heritage, Yogi said that development becomes possible only when people elect capable representatives."The government has a vision for development. Development could take place because you elected good public representatives," he said.
Adityanath also referred to the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, describing it as a historic achievement. He said that nearly five centuries had passed since a foreign invader allegedly demolished the temple at the birthplace of Lord Ram."Many generations passed and the nation remained emotionally connected to the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. The construction of the grand Ram Temple gained momentum only after the BJP's double-engine government came to power," he said. The chief minister criticized opposition parties, alleging that the Congress and the Samajwadi Party had hindered efforts to build the temple."Congress could have facilitated the construction after Independence but did not do so. The Samajwadi Party, which is openly opposed to Lord Ram, also created obstacles," he alleged.Recalling the Ram Janmabhoomi movement slogan, Adityanath said the BJP remained committed to the resolve expressed by devotees: "Ram Lalla Hum Aayenge, Mandir Wahin Banayenge."The event was attended by public representatives, government officials and local residents, with the Chief Minister reiterating the government's focus on infrastructure development, cultural revival and public welfare across eastern Uttar Pradesh.
