Lucknow: The now closed Scooters India factory premises in Lucknow may be used for setting up an electric commercial vehicle manufacturing plant, the first in the state.The UP government recently signed a Rs 1,500 crore MoU with Hinduja Group’s Ashok Leyland for an e-commercial vehicle plant in UP land for which is currently being identified. “It is highly possible that the unit may come up in the Scooters India land in Lucknow. Prayagraj has also been considered,” said a government spokesperson. The MoU, signed on September 15 in the presence of chief minister Yogi Adityanath, states that Ashok Leyland will establish its first integrated manufacturing plant in UP which will concentrate on the production of e-buses, but will also have the facility to assemble other vehicles which are operated on conventional fuel.
