Two killed in separate road accidents in Kozhikode, Kannur
Kozhikode: Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Kozhikode and Kannur districts on Sunday. In the first incident which took place in Kozhikode, Sauda, a native of Kunnamangalam, died after she lost control of her scooter and plunged into a depth. The accident occurred around 8.30am while she was travelling along the Ambalakkandi–Irattakulangara road. She sustained serious head and neck injuries. Thought she was rushed to a private hospital in Omassery, her life could not be saved. Her husband Kunjimarakker, who was riding with her, was also injured and has been admitted to Shanti Hospital. In a separate incident at Cheruvancheri in Kannur, a police officer died after his motorcycle met with an accident. The deceased has been identified as K Shamil Rahman, a native of Kakkoor in Kozhikode. According to police, the car was on its way from Kerala to Bengaluru, while the goods carrier with manure was on its way from Mandya in Karnataka to Kerala. The deceased have been identified as Muneer, 38, who was at the wheel; Muneera, 45; and Moheej, three and a half years old. The three injured were rushed to Chamarajanagar district hospital. Another passenger escaped unhurt, police said. According to Chamarajanagara superintendent of police M Muthuraj, the goods carrier's driver and cleaner fled the spot.
