Doctor dies in accident along Kolhapur-Gaganbawda road

Kolhapur: A 29-year-old doctor died along the Kolhapur-Gaganbawda road at Marali village in Panhala tehsil after his SUV collided with a truck early on Tuesday.According to the police, the doctor — identified as Sunil Suresh Nandgaonkar, a resident of Mandur village of Gaganbawda tehsil —was on his way home when the accident occured.He practiced in a hospital in Kolhapur and also had his own clinic. Nandgaonkar was also busy setting up his new clinic.A case has been registered at Kale police station against the truck driver who fled from the scene after the accident. “An investigation has been initiated,” a police officer said.Owing to the impact of the collision the SUV turned into a wreckage. The locals rushed to the spot and called for an ambulance. However, Nandgaonkar could not be saved.
