Teen hangs self after being denied swimming

Kanpur: A 17-year-old boy allegedly died by suicide after his family stopped him from going swimming in Maudaha of Hamirpur district late Monday night.Police said Naman alias Aryan, son of Ramlal and a resident of Fattepur locality, hanged himself at home. Family members rushed him to a govt hospital, where doctors declared him dead.According to family members, Naman had insisted on going to a swimming pool but was stopped in view of the recent drowning of three children in a pond in Khandeh village. Upset over the refusal, he allegedly took the extreme step shortly afterwards.Police sent the body for postmortem. Kotwali in-charge Santosh Singh said no complaint had been received so far and the matter was under investigation.
