Gurgaon: A newborn girl, believed to be one or two days old, was found abandoned near the Jhajjar Bypass Road in Farukhnagar on Monday afternoon.Sombir, a resident of Sultanpur village and owner of an eatery on the Farukhnagar-Jhajjar bypass, said he found the infant at 2pm while on his way to the nearby transport office.He said he noticed an object wrapped in a white cloth, lying on a platform beneath a peepal tree. Curiosity drew him closer, and when he removed the cover, he found a baby girl tucked inside. Sombir said he immediately asked the people nearby, but no one knew who the parents were or how the infant had come to be there.He dialled 112, and a police team led by ASI Dharm Singh reached the location. Based on Sombir’s complaint, an FIR was registered under Section 93 (abandonment of children under 12 years of age) of the BNS.The infant was first taken to the community health centre in Farukhnagar. Since no doctor was available there, she was referred to the Civil Hospital in Sector 10, where she was admitted to the neonatal ward for medical care. Police obtained the medico-legal report prepared by the doctors at the hospital.Police said efforts are underway to identify and trace the parents of the child. Further investigation is underway.
