Wild elephant kills construction worker near Sathyamangalam

ERODE: A wild elephant trampled a construction worker to death near Sathyamangalam in Erode district on Wednesday night.The deceased has been identified as M Basavaraj, 40, of Kuthiyalathur village near Kadambur. “The elephant attacked Basavaraj around 9pm when he was returning home on a two-wheeler after work. He died on the spot,” said an officer at the Kadambur police station.The body was sent to Sathyamangalam Government Hospital for postmortem.Basavaraj is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.The Kadambur police registered a case.
