Shimla: Health and family welfare minister Colonel Dhani Ram Shandil (retd) on Thursday announced that the process of equpping Adarsh Swasthya Sansthans with X-ray and ultrasound facilities had been completed, enabling Himachal Pradesh residents to access these services closer to home.
Chairing a meeting, the minister said the machines would be installed shortly, reducing the need for patients to travel long distances for diagnostic services. He said the state govt is setting up 70 Adarsh Swasthya Sansthans, including one in each assembly constituency and two each in Lahaul-Spiti and Bharmaur. The initiative is part of the govt's broader effort to modernise healthcare and ensure quality medical services at people's doorsteps, he said.
The health minister said the govt was replacing 15-to 20-year-old medical equipment with modern technology in phases, with Rs 3,000 crore being invested in healthcare infrastructure and advanced equipment, besides Rs 1,110 crore spent over the past two years.
The minister also directed officials to expedite the procurement of advanced diagnostic equipment, medicines and laboratory systems, including PET scans, digital radiography, mammography and automated laboratory facilities, to further strengthen healthcare services across the state.
