Haryana to host CPA conference for first time from June 8-10
Chandigarh: Haryana is going to host the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region North Zone-II Conference for the first time, marking a milestone for the state's legislative institution. The three-day conference will be held in Chandigarh from June 8 to 10 and will bring together presiding officers and senior public representatives from across the country.The conference will be chaired by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and attended by Rajya Sabha deputy chairman Harivansh, Haryana governor Prof Ashim Kumar Ghosh, chief minister Nayab Singh Saini and several other distinguished dignitaries. Punjab governor and Chandigarh administrator Gulab Chand Kataria has also been invited.The event has received confirmation from legislative bodies representing more than half of India's states, underlining its national significance. So far, 15 state legislatures, including Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, have confirmed their participation.Haryana assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan has been reviewing preparations for the conference, including venue, accommodation, transport, security and hospitality arrangements.
Chief minister Nayab Singh Saini, who recently reviewed the preparations with Kalyan, has declared the event a ‘State Function' to ensure full govt support.The Speaker said the conference would strengthen parliamentary democracy and provide a valuable platform for exchanging legislative experiences and best practices among states, making it a memorable and productive event.MSID:: 131533125 413 |
