Rourkela: A couple was electrocuted while working on the roof of a house in Sundargarh district on Monday afternoon. The postmortem of the two was conducted on Tuesday and bodies handed over to their family.The incident took place at Bhedabahal village under Sadar police limits. Anant Kainsaria (60), a mason, and his wife Sumitra Kainsaria (58), a labourer, of Chhotabanga under Lephripada police station, were installing a grill with the help of a ladder at the house.While working, the couple came in contact with a live service electric wire in the staircase room of the house. Seeing them collapse, another labourer, Bas Kamar (50), a local woman, rushed to help but also sustained serious injuries after touching the live wire.All three were rescued and shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared Anant and Sumitra dead on arrival. Bas Kamar was admitted for treatment. Sadar police reached the spot and the hospital for inquiry. The bodies were kept in the morgue and their family was informed.The couple is survived by four sons and two daughters.“After registering an unnatural death case, we are investigating the matter,” said Sasmita Debta, Inspector-in-Charge, Sadar police station.
