In Karnataka’s Bagalkot assembly bypoll, Congress candidate Umesh Meti has won the seat by a margin of 21,866 votes after the final (23rd) round of counting. Meti secured a total of 97,941 votes, defeating BJP’s candidate, who polled 76,075 votes.

BJP candidate Daochier I Imchen won the by-election to the Koridang assembly segment in Nagaland by 3,123 votes on Monday, according to the Election Commission.
He secured 7,317 votes, defeating Independent candidate Toshikaba, who polled 4,194 votes.
Another Independent candidate, Imtiwapang, finished third with 3,633 votes, while NPP nominee I Abenjang polled 3,219 votes.
Congress candidate T Chalukumba Ao secured just 144 votes, while NOTA polled 48 votes.
With this victory, Imchen enters the 14th Nagaland assembly as the youngest legislator at 35.
He maintained a consistent lead across several polling stations, particularly in the Mangmetong and Longkhum areas, securing a decisive victory.

Bypoll Election Results: BJP wins bypoll to Dharmanagar Assembly seat in Tripura
The BJP's Jahar Chakraborti on Monday won the Dharmanagar Assembly bypoll in Tripura by a margin of 18,920 votes over his nearest CPI(M) candidate.
Chakraborti secured 24,291 votes while his nearest rival, CPI(M)'s Amitabha Datta, polled 6,001 votes. The Congress' Chayan Bahttacharya got 5,936 votes.
The bypoll was necessitated by the death of Tripura Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen in December 2025. The voter turnout in the bypoll was 79.84 per cent.
With the victory, the BJP's tally in the 60-member Assembly stands at 33, while its allies -- the Tipra Motha Party (TMP) has 13 MLAs, and the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura has one lawmaker.
Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Dharmanagar for favouring the BJP with an overwhelming mandate.
"I sincerely express my heartfelt gratitude to the people of Dharmanagar for electing Bharatiya Janata Party candidate, Jahar Chakraborty, with an overwhelming majority in the Dharmanagar by-election," he wrote on Facebook.
Saha added, "Your immense support and trust have made us even more responsible. We are committed to working tirelessly towards the overall development, peace, and progress of Dharmanagar. Let us move forward together and take this journey of development even further with everyone’s support."

The counting of votes for the bypolls to the Dharmanagar Assembly constituency in North Tripura will be held today amidst tight security cover.
"All necessary arrangements for tomorrow's counting commencing at 8 am have been completed. The counting process will take place on 14 tables in the counting hall under CCTV surveillance," Returning Officer (RO), Debjani Choudhury said.
Prohibitory order under section 163 BNS will come into force at 6 am on Monday within a 100-metre radius of the counting hall to ensure peace, she said, adding that adequate security measures have also been made available for the counting day.
DIG, Northern Range Rati Ranjan Dhar on Sunday visited Dharmanagar to review the security arrangements for the counting process.
"A three-layer security arrangement has been put in place for the counting of votes for the byelection. Besides tight security in and around the counting hall, additional forces will be deployed in key locations to control the crowd," he told reporters.
An average of 79.84 per cent of 46,142 voters exercised their democratic right on April 9.
Although six candidates, Jahar Chakraborty (BJP), Amitabh Datta (CPIM), Chayan Bhattacharjee (Congress), Bibash Ranjan Das (Amra Bangalee), Brajalal Debnath (Independent), and Sanjoy Chaudhury (SUCI) are in the electoral fray, the contest is mainly between the BJP, CPI (M) and Congress.

Elaborate arrangements have been made for vote counting in Karnataka’s Bagalkot bypoll, with 14 tables set up in Room No. 4 on the ground floor for EVM counting. Separate arrangements have been made in Room No. 9, where one table is designated for counting of postal ballots and another for scanning of ETBPS.
Each counting table will have a supervisor, a counting assistant and a micro-observer, with an assistant election officer overseeing the process at every table to ensure accuracy and transparency.
