Bhopal: A 24-year-old BTech student was allegedly stabbed by his roommate following an argument over cheating during an online PUBG game in MP Nagar area early Tuesday morning. MP Nagar police registered a case on charges of attempt to murder against the accused, who is on the run.
Investigation officer SI Kunwar Singh said complainant Shivendra Tripathi, 24, a native of Rewa district, is pursuing BTech from a private college in Ratibad and lives in a rented accommodation in MP Nagar Zone-2 along with three friends, including the accused Lokmani.
Police said Lokmani, also a native of Rewa and Shivendra’s childhood friend, was playing PUBG online along with Shivendra and two other roommates on Tuesday early morning.
During the game, around 5 am, Lokmani allegedly accused Shivendra of cheating, leading to a heated argument between the two. The dispute escalated, following which Lokmani allegedly attacked Shivendra with a knife.
Police said Shivendra sustained a serious stab injury near the left side of his chest. After the attack, the accused fled from the spot.
The injured student was rushed to a hospital by the other roommates, where he is undergoing treatment.
