Pilibhit: A 35-year-old woman, Anita Devi, died on Tuesday morning after accidentally touching an electrified fence around a maize field in Khajuria Nabiram village in Pilibhit district. The field belonged to former village pradhan Shiv Prasad. She was rushed to a community health centre but declared dead on arrival. In denial, family members and locals buried her neck-deep in sand, following a folk belief that it could restore life. After nearly 40 minutes without revival, police took the body for post-mortem.Her husband, Beche Lal, said the family had a toilet under the Swachh Bharat Mission, but its septic tank was overflowing, forcing them to go for open defecation. He alleged the solar fencing had been illegally connected to electricity to deter stray cattle.SHO Siddhant Sharma stated that legal action would follow after investigation, and an FIR would be registered once the family files a complaint. .
