BAREILLY: Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College, in association with the Anaesthesiology Department of NCR Medical College, concluded a two-day American Heart Association (AHA)-certified CPR training programme on Sunday, covering Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
Trainers Shijo George, Dr Santosh, Manu and Arjun from Noida conducted the sessions.
Head of the Department (HOD) Dr Yogesh Manik explained that ACLS is an advanced certification built on BLS fundamentals. While BLS is administered in the early stages of an emergency, ACLS is the continued care provided by healthcare professionals inside a hospital.
He added, "Though this session was conducted with professional and senior resident medicos, we are also open to training common people in BLS techniques. A group of people can approach the LLRM college for training. This initiative was taken to campaign about the CPR."
He added, "If one person in 50 knows the basic technique of giving CPR, they could save someone's life."
Dr Vipin Dhama said the AHA's BLS course trains participants to recognise life-threatening emergencies, deliver high-quality chest compressions, ensure proper ventilation and use an AED promptly.
Principal Dr R C Gupta, who inaugurated the programme on May 23 alongside Dr Manik, said CPR training significantly improves patient survival rates. "In case of a cardiac arrest, effective CPR can save a patient's life," Dr Manik added.
