mani shankar aiyar

Mani Shankar Aiyar is a politician from the Indian National Congress party and a former Indian diplomat. He was an active member in the first cabinet of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and served as the Union Minister of Panchayati Raj till 2009.

In different sessions, he served as the Union Cabinet Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Minister of Development of North Eastern Region and also headed the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

In the 14th Lok Sabha, he represented the Mayiladuthurai constituency of Tamil Nadu and at present he is a nominated member of parliament from Rajya Sabha.
