Maja Chwalinska, ranked 114th and in Paris as a qualifier, defeated 25th seed Diana Shnaider 7-6 (4), 6-4 to become the first qualifier in Roland Garros history to reach the women's singles final. The 24-year-old Pole, who had just one prior grand slam main draw win before this fortnight, lost only one set across nine matches. She faces Mirra Andreeva in Saturday's final.
