Security agencies in Sri Ganganagar district busted a major heroin smuggling module originating from Pakistan for the second consecutive day. On Thursday, Special CBI court judge RK Gupta convicted former Punjab Police DIG Dilbagh Singh and retired DSP Gurbachan Singh in a 1993 fake encounter case. A special CBI court has convicted a police constable and acquitted a head constable in a Rs 10,000 corruption case. The quantum of sentence would be pronounced on January 31, Rajesh Shukla, former sho of Sector 34 police station and an accused in the case, had died during the trial on September 3, 2014. The CBI had arrested Shukla head constable Mukesh Kumar and constable Dilbagh Singh for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from parking contractor Lalit Joshi. The chargesheet had said Shukla accepted the bribe through constable Dilbagh Singh and Mukesh Kumar in lieu of not harassing the parking contractor and to allow him to run his business in the jurisdiction of the Sector 34 police station.
