India vs Scotland Match Highlights & Results

So, India have now moved into the third spot courtesy of another thumping victory. However, they will still need another such win and also depend on the result of the game between Afghanistan and New Zealand. That game is on Sunday, 7th November though. On Saturday, there are two crucial games which will help us find out which two teams along with England will go through from Group 1. First, Australia will face West Indies and that will be followed by England locking horns with South Africa. All to play for, for those sides, action there begins at 2 pm Local and (10 am GMT) and the second will be at 6 pm Local (2 pm GMT). See you there. Till then, take care and goodbye!

The Indian skipper and the birthday boy, Virat Kohli, says that they are sitting just under the semi-final cut-off line and they would see what happens on 7th November. Adds that things did not go well for them in the first two games and losing the toss also hurt them. Informs that they wanted to restrict Scotland to around 100-120 and then chase it down. Says that they targeted to chase it down in 8-10 overs but is happy that they did it earlier. Adds that they played really well in the warm-up games but a couple of overs of bad phase in the first couple of games hurt them. Credits Shami and Jadeja for the way they bowled and he is pleased that everyone is performing well. Informs that having his family here in these times is a celebration for him.

Kyle Coetzer, the skipper of Scotland, says that they were outclassed totally but they will improve after this type of game. Adds that Mark Watt has been excellent for them. Tells that the players will find some positive out of this. Says that Michael Leask is a fantastic player for them and is lovely to watch him play.

Ravindra Jadeja is the Player of the Match, he says that he was enjoying bowling as the ball was turning. Says that the first wicket was a special one. Adds that they knew that they have to win by a big margin and they played well. Tells that if they play like this no one can beat them and hopes they continue to play like this.

Really not sure what positive can one write for Scotland! It was a day to forget for them. First, they were bowled out for just the 85. They then had to push this game beyond the 8th over but they have failed to do that too. Just nothing went their way. The only thing they can be happy about is the two wickets they got but that too after a real pounding. It just was not their day or probably not their World Cup.

A total carnage and it had to be! India needed to chase this down within 43 balls and they have done so without breaking a sweat. KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma did take a couple of balls to get their eye but once they did, they just smashed the ball to all parts of the ground. Both fell but by then the job was done. Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav walked in and ensured the effort by the openers did not go in vain. A win for India was never in doubt, the only question was, will they do it within 7.1 overs and they have done it with 4 balls to spare.

SIX! Suryakumar Yadav finishes things off in style. A full ball, on middle. Yadav lofts it high and handsomely straight down the ground for a biggie. INDIA WIN BY 8 WICKETS.

Short again, outside off. Yadav looks to cut but fails to connect it.

Fuller and on off, Rahul drives it crisply but a little too close to mid off. Only one. End of a big over for India. 63 in 31 if they are to better Afghanistan's NRR.

FOUR! Does find the boundary this time! On the leg side through, third in the over! Angled into the pads, Rahul waits a little and then whips it behind square on the leg side.

The idea was right but the execution was not there! Shorter and outside off, Rahul looks to guide it past short third man. He fails to get it past that fielder. A little to the left or the right and would have been a boundary.

Now India need to chase this down in 7.1 overs if they are to have a better NRR than Afghanistan after this game. There is no doubt, the openers are going to come all guns blazing. It is just a matter of how many overs are India going to take! Scotland, don't see any miracle from them, all they can do is delay the victory for India. The second essay in a bit.

Ravindra Jadeja is up for a chat. He says that they played really well and they planned to get them out as soon as possible. He was trying to bowl in good overs. Says that they were hoping to win the toss and it worked as planned.

Really can't write a lot about a team that has been bowled out for 85. 7 single-digit scores and no batter managed to cross the 30-run mark. Another poor display with the bat for Scotland, not a tournament to remember for their batters so far. India were brilliant though. They did not put a foot down here. All the bowlers except for Varun Chakravarthy took a wicket with Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja taking 3 each.

What an impressive bowling performance by India! Absolutely brilliant! It was the batters who lit the stadium up with their flashy stroke-making in the last game and now it is their bowlers who have given India an opportunity for a big win again.

OUT! KABOOM! Yet another corker of a yorker and it is way too good for Evans who is a number 10 batter. A team hat-trick then for India! This is a toe-crusher. Evans is late in getting his bat down. It hits the toe and then deflects onto the stumps. Can the innings end in this over itself?

OUT! RUN OUT! Two in two for India! Safyaan Sharif was probably worried about the LBW appeal! This is full again and on the pads. Sharif looks to flick but misses. It hits the pad. A huge appeal but turned down. The ball rolls towards mid-wicket. Sharif takes off and he is ball watching. His partner is not interested at all. Sharif is halfway down. Kishan picks the ball up and calmly runs towards the stumps at the keeper's end and whips the bails off.

OUT! TIMBER! Calum MacLeod is out of here and Shami gets his second with a corker of a yorker. Scotland would have loved for Calum MacLeod to hang in there till the end. He is arguably their last recognized batter. Full and on off. MacLeod looks to whip it across the line but misses. The ball hits the off pole.

A change goes begging! Pant was way too eager to whip the bails off there. Clever from Ashwin. He sees Watt come down the track and fires it quicker and outside off. Watt reaches out but misses. EDGY FOUR! Scotland won't mind how they come as long as they do. Watt comes down the track and Ashwin fires it outside off. Watt reaches out for it, it goes off the outside edge down to third man for a boundary.

Watt now skips down the track and Jadeja shortens the length. He swings but it goes more off the inner half through mid-wicket for one.

FOUR! Not a good effort in the field there! Short and outside off, Watt hangs back and slaps it through covers. This one is racing away from Shami. He makes good ground to his left, does get there, gets down to pick it up but fails to do so. Welcome boundary.

That is outstanding from Jadeja! Watt comes down the track, he shortens the length. It is pushed to the right of the bowler. It is almost passed him but Jadeja dives and stops a run.

OUT! TAKEN! Greaves's struggle ends! He played just the 7 balls but tried far too many shots in those 7 and now falls. Steps out but does not get to the pitch of it. It seems like yet another carrom ball by Ashwin. Lands on off and then holds its line. Greaves looks to go big but this goes more off the outer part of the bat and down towards long off. Pandya makes no mistake. 100 looks far away now.

Who will bat now? Mark Watt walks out to bat.

WIDE! Ashwin probably though Greaves would make room again. He bowls it down the leg side. Greaves holds his ground and leaves it alone. Wided.

Greaves makes room and Ashwin follows him. He looks to cut but gets an underedge back to the bowler.

Review time. India have reviewed this for LBW. No bat on it. But it is too high and the ball is going over the stumps. Rishabh Pant had said that height could be an issue but Virat Kohli decided to take the review at the last moment.

NOT OUT! That is just going over! India lose a review! Pant did mention it seems high but Virat still went for it. Can't blame him, it did seem close. On middle, it seems like the carom ball. Greaves misses his reverse sweep and gets hit high on the body. An appeal but turned down. A discussion between Pant, Ashwin and Kohli and the skipper takes the review in the end. Replays roll in and they show it is going over.
