NEW DELHI: BJP's Swapan Majumder won against TMC's Rituparna Addhya from Bangaon Dakshin.Bangaon Dakshin is a Scheduled Caste-reserved constituency in North 24 Parganas, part of the Bangaon Lok Sabha seat. Like its northern counterpart, it has a significant Matua community presence and has been a closely fought seat in recent elections. In 2026, TMC is fielding Rituparna Addhya against BJP's Swapan Majumder. In 2021, BJP's Swapan Majumder won narrowly with 97,828 votes, defeating TMC's Alo Rani Sarkar by just 2,004 votes — an extremely tight contest. In 2016, TMC's Surajit Kumar Biswas held the seat with 92,379 votes, defeating CPI(M)'s Ramendranath Audhya by 26,904 votes. In 2011, Biswas had also won for TMC with 87,677 votes. The paper-thin 2021 margin suggests this will again be a closely contested seat in 2026.
