Sainthia (SC) is a Scheduled Caste Assembly constituency located in West Bengal’s Birbhum district. It is one of the seven Assembly segments that fall under the Birbhum Lok Sabha constituency.
At present, Nilabati Saha of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) is the sitting MLA from Sainthia. She won the seat in the 2021 Assembly election by securing 49.84 per cent of the total votes polled. She was followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, who received 42.97 per cent of the votes.
Nilabati Saha has held the constituency for consecutive terms. She also won the seat in the 2016 Assembly election as an AITC candidate. Earlier, the constituency was represented by Dhiren Bagdi of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), who won the seat in 2011.
