Suspicious death of man in police custody triggers protests in Nandyal dist
Tirupati: Tension prevailed at Kolimigundla in Nandyal district following the suspicious death of a man in police custody at the Kolimigundla police station. The deceased was identified as Venkata Subbaiah, who was taken into custody on Saturday in connection with a tractor theft case. According to sources, Subbaiah died under unclear circumstances during the night while still in custody. His body was later shifted to a govt hospital for post-mortem examination.The incident triggered protests from the victim's family members and relatives, who alleged foul play and raised serious concerns over the circumstances leading to his death. They demanded a fair and transparent investigation and accountability from the police.Responding on the issue, Nandyal district SP Suneel Sheoran told reporters that a detailed inquiry is being conducted. "We will carry out a thorough investigation into the matter. The facts will be disclosed after receiving the report. At present, we are in the process of inquiry to ascertain the truth," Nandyal SP added.
