SHIMLA: A video allegedly showing a foreign woman tourist being harassed by a young man on a street in Manali, located in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district, has gone viral on social media, triggering action from local authorities.According to reports, the incident took place on June 3 and was captured on CCTV footage. The video appears to show a man making inappropriate advances towards a woman who was walking alone, according to news agency PTI. However, officials have not yet confirmed the exact location where the incident occurred.No formal complaint has been lodged so far. Nevertheless, subdivisional magistrate (SDM) Gunjeet Singh Cheema ordered an inquiry after the video surfaced online. He maintained that people damaging Himachal's image must face strict action.According to news agency PTI, Manali DSP K D Sharma said on Saturday that the SHO has been directed to identify the accused seen in the footage.The incident has raised concerns among local residents and stakeholders in the tourism sector. Himachal Pradesh is widely regarded as a safe and peaceful tourist destination and is known for following the 'Atithi Devo Bhava' tradition.Traders have expressed concern that such incidents could negatively impact tourism and discourage solo women travellers and foreign tourists from visiting the state.
