Teen stabbed to death on way to college in Himachal Pradesh; one arrested
SHIMLA: A 19-year-old college student was allegedly killed after her throat was slit in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district on Monday morning, police said. One suspect has been arrested in connection with the case.According to police, the incident took place near the Gopalpur area when the girl, identified as Siya Guleria, was on her way to college. She was reportedly intercepted by two men on a motorcycle, who attacked her with a sharp weapon before fleeing the spot. The victim died on the spot due to severe injuries.Police reached the location soon after being informed and recovered the body. Later, locals found a 36-year-old suspect hiding in nearby fields and informed the police. The weapon allegedly used in the crime was also recovered.The situation turned tense as residents demanded strict punishment for the accused, even calling for capital punishment. Police, however, took the accused into custody and assured action as per law.A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and investigations are continuing, said Superintendent of Police Mandi Vinod Kumar.
