France Waives Airport Transit Visa For Indian Nationals, Boosts Travel Ease

France has waived the requirement of an airport transit visa for Indian nationals traveling through its airports en route to a third country. The announcement, confirmed by MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, came into effect from April 10, 2026.According to the Embassy of France in India, the exemption applies to Indian passport holders who remain within the international transit zone during their layover in France.The move is being seen as a step towards strengthening India-France relations, following the recent engagement between the two countries led by French President Emmanuel Macron. It is expected to ease travel, reduce paperwork, and enhance connectivity for Indian travellers.
