Teenager walking on terrace raped by neighbour in East Singhbhum

Jamshedpur: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour while she was strolling on the terrace of her rented house in East Singhbhum district early on Wednesday, police said.Police said the teenager was walking on the terrace around 12:30 am to cool off from the summer heat.The 42-year-old accused allegedly lured the girl into his house and raped her. He held her captive for three hours before releasing the survivor after threatening he will kill if she disclosed the sexual assault to anyone.The accused is a tenant residing in an adjacent house of the same building and is a govt employee in neighbouring Seraikela-Kharsawan district.The survivor managed to reach home around 3:30 am and narrated her ordeal to her family. Her relatives immediately informed local police, who swung into action and arrested the accused.Police officer Avinash Kumar said that the girl was sent to a govt hospital for medical examination. “The accused is being questioned in custody,” he said.
