Firing at vehicles near coal mine in Hazaribag triggers panic

Hazaribag: Unidentified criminals allegedly opened fire at vehicles of a private firm near CCL‘s Chandragupt coal project in Hazaribag district on Monday night, police said.After the incident, a purported press statement was circulated on social media allegedly by the Rahul Dubey gang claiming responsibility for the attack around 10:30 pm.According to the information, bike-borne criminals reached the coal stock yard at Jordaga and suddenly started firing. During the firing, one bullet hit the cabin door of a parked truck. The vehicle was damaged but no employee was injured.The firing left employees present and nearby residents in panic.The attack has once again brought the issue of criminal gangs active in coal mining areas and extortion-related activities into focus.Police said they have started a probe, adding that the authenticity of the statement on social media is being verified, and efforts are underway to identify those involved in the firing.Keredari police station officer in-charge Ved Prakash Pandey said, “People involved in the incident will be identified and arrested soon.”
