4 people killed and more than 20 injured after Russian missiles and drones hit Ukraine's Kharkiv region on Tuesday, as reported by Reuters. The latest strikes killed two men, one 70 and the other 56, and two women, aged 22 and 70 in the town of Chuhuiv in northeastern Kharkiv, regional governor Oleh Syniehubov said on Telegram.Syniehubov also said that those injured also included 3 children. Mikhail Razvozhayev, the local Russian-installed Governor, stated on Telegram that defense systems were fending off a drone attack in Sevastopol, which is located in Russia-annexed Crimea and is home to Russia's Black Sea naval fleet. The attack follows Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s call for a ceasefire last week through diplomacy and the involvement of the US and Europe. As per Reuters, the attacks happened as Zelenskiy was returning to Kyiv from London after gaining the support of leaders of Britain, France and Germany for ceasefire talks. He also said US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are ready to work on a settlement of the war in the coming weeks.

Nations extend support

The ongoing Middle East conflict has put a pause on the US-led negotiation between Ukraine and Russia. Reuters reported that the US and Ukrainian authorities are still debating Witkoff and Kushner's likely visit to Kyiv in the upcoming weeks.
The two envoys have already visited Moscow for discussions with Russia, but this would be their first official journey to Ukraine.Nordic nations are extending support to Zelenskiy's call for an urgent ceasefire, as the Foreign Minister of Finland Elina Valtonen informed the UN Security Council. NATO nations are also expanding their presence in regions near Belarus and Russia, said a comment from Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin. Zelenskiy informed UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London that his nation requires more missiles for air defense systems.
