FIR against 3 for extorting money from NHAI official
Nashik: The Kotwali police in Ahilyanagar on Wednesday registered a case against three suspects for demanding Rs50,000 per month from a project director of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for wanting to continue road construction on the Nagar-Manmad highway.On the complaint of NHAI officer, the Kotwali police registered a case against the three individuals under sections 132 (assault or using criminal force to deter a public servant in the execution of their duty), 308 (extortion) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) among other sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The complainant was working in his office in the Market Yard area of Ahilyanagar on Monday when three people entered his cubile. They threatened they would not let him work if they were not given a monthly payment of Rs50,000.The project director said, "Two of the three people had visited my office in the past and sought information about the road construction under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. One of the suspects also called to warn me on not clearing bills of the contractors who were working on the Nagar-Manmad Highway."
