RR vs RCB highlights, IPL 2026: Dhruv Jurel, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi power Rajasthan Royals to 6-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Guwahati

RR vs RCB highlights, IPL 2026: Blistering half-centuries from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel powered Rajasthan Royals to a commanding six-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a high-scoring IPL 2026 clash at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Friday.

Batting first after being asked to take strike, RCB posted a strong 201 for 8 in 20 overs, riding on a fine captain’s knock from Rajat Patidar, who struck a fluent 63 off 40 balls with four boundaries and as many sixes. He held the innings together after early wickets, with useful contributions coming from Virat Kohli (32 off 16), Romario Shepherd (22 off 11) and Venkatesh Iyer (29* off 15), ensuring RCB crossed the 200-mark. However, RCB kept losing wickets at regular intervals, preventing them from fully capitalising in the death overs.

In reply, Rajasthan Royals came out with intent and aggression. The chase was blown wide open by Sooryavanshi, who produced a breathtaking 78 off just 26 balls, smashing eight fours and seven sixes. His assault left the RCB attack helpless as he tore into both pace and spin, setting the tone for a dominant chase.

After the early dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal (13), Sooryavanshi and Jurel stitched a match-defining 108-run stand off just 37 balls for the second wicket. Even the introduction of spin brought little relief as Krunal Pandya briefly fought back with two quick wickets, removing Sooryavanshi and Shimron Hetmyer in succession.

However, the Royals remained unfazed. Jurel anchored the chase beautifully, combining composure with clean hitting to remain unbeaten on 81 off 43 balls. He then found strong support from Ravindra Jadeja (24*), with the pair adding 68 runs to finish the game with two overs to spare.

For RCB, Josh Hazlewood (2/44), Krunal Pandya (2/30) and Brijesh Sharma (2/37) were among the wickets, but they lacked control in the powerplay where Sooryavanshi’s assault had already sealed the game’s momentum.

Rajasthan Royals’ emphatic chase of 202 underlined their batting depth and fearless approach, while RCB were left to reflect on missed opportunities with the ball despite a strong first-innings total

Yeah, absolutely. The previous, keeping the previous years in mind, I feel we were not up to the mark in a few years that we've played here, but today I think it was very clinical. It's always about getting better. I feel the way we bowled, the way we started, I would have been happy with 200. But I think the way we clawed back in the middle overs, I still think we were like 20 over par. We should have bowled a little better, executed a little better. Maybe I made a few bad decisions and restricted them to like a 170-ish. But yeah, things to learn every game. (what mistakes were done today while bowling?) I think a few balls here and there.

This is a wicket where not a lot of sixes are hit down the ground, especially our spinners. So I felt at some points we gave a little bit of room, played to the batsman's advantage. So I think as we move forward, we learn from these mistakes and try not to repeat them. (on making their homeground a fortress) It's not really that tough. I think we put enough prep in Guwahati and in Jaipur. So I feel once we did our camp in Jaipur, we had enough days of practice here. We know what the black soil does here. Keeps a little low, is a little sticky. So I think we're well prepared for any home game. Didn't really feel like a home game, but we were really prepared. (plans going forward?) I think very high scoring grounds.

Again, like I said, before the start of the season, that's what my chat with the team was that we want to be a team that assesses wickets really well. And I feel now that we've played on a sticky wicket and we've done so well, once we get a belter, I think we're going to do even better. (on Sooryavanshi) I think everyone loves him. Everyone loves having him around. He likes eating stuff. He likes going out and stuff like that. So we make sure we make that available for him. And he's a 16-year-old kid, 15-year-old, whatever it is. Yeah, very kiddish things. And he's happy with that. He likes a lot of batting. So we make sure that that is presented to him. And if he keeps on batting like that, I think whatever he wants.

Sir, not just me, everyone must have enjoyed it. Like Vaibhav didn’t bat today, but when he does, it feels like facing someone like Jasprit Bumrah becomes easy. Watching him, it feels like there’s nothing happening in the pitch, so you can take your chances. And today it turned out that way. No sir, I was just trying. I’ve worked on this last year when I was batting lower down the order. This time, the management gave me an opportunity to bat higher. They told me to just believe in myself, keep playing my shots and not overthink. The game is on me, so just back myself. Honestly, it’s hard to understand. Seriously, you’re just in awe, how can someone hit like that. It makes you think, we’re batting on the same pitch, why doesn’t it feel the same for us. He’s a great talent. No sir, the best thing is not to tell him anything. Let him play the way he does. We just feel lucky that he’s in our team. Sir, I think we’ve started well. As the tournament progresses, the middle order will also step up. In the practice matches, everyone contributed and looked in good touch. Hopefully, their big knocks will come soon. Sir, like I said earlier, if Vaibhav gets going in the powerplay, it makes things easier for us. And if it looks easy, then it becomes fun to watch as well.

RR vs RCB Live Score: Rajat Patidar | RCB captain
I think the way we started in the powerplay, those initial wickets, and from there, 202, I think that’s a positive sign for us. And at the same time, the way their batters, especially Vaibhav, batted in the powerplay, I think that made a huge difference. I think the way we are, I think in our last matches that was brilliant. But I think there are a lot of learnings from this game. I don’t think that much because Venky, Shepi (Shepherd) and KP were there. So I think we had to manage those overs with all three bowlers. I don’t think that made a huge difference. I think if you are playing this kind of competitive cricket, especially in the IPL, there will be errors. But the important thing is how you look at it, you have to learn from your mistakes.

Rajasthan Royals get off to a flying start in the powerplay, racing to 97 for 1, driven by explosive batting at the top.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi sets the tone early with two crisp boundaries off Bhuvneshwar Kumar, before continuing his assault on the bowlers with fearless strokeplay. Even after the early wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal—who smashed two towering sixes off Josh Hazlewood before falling for 13—RR never lose momentum.

Sooryavanshi then takes charge in sensational fashion against Abhinandan Singh, mixing timing and power with ease as he finds boundaries and a clean six. He continues his dominance over Hazlewood as well, hammering him for 4, 4, 4 and 6 in a statement over that shifts the tone completely.

The young opener brings up a record-breaking fifty in just 15 balls, showcasing breathtaking striking ability and composure beyond his years.

Dhruv Jurel then joins the party in the sixth over, launching a brutal counterattack with 24 runs off the over (4, 6, 4, 0, 6, 4), ensuring Rajasthan Royals finish the powerplay in complete control at 97/1.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continues his blazing start for Rajasthan Royals as he dominates the third over from Abhinandan Singh, smashing 16 runs in a thrilling display of clean hitting. The over begins with a dot ball, but Sooryavanshi quickly shifts gears with a powerful straight drive down the ground for four. He follows it up with another boundary, this time showing brute force and timing as he pierces the field with ease. There is a moment of fortune when he gets an inside edge that races past the wicketkeeper for four more, but that does nothing to slow him down. He then shows his improvisation by swiping a length ball through the leg side for a single before his partner Dhruv Jurel rotates strike. The over ends in signature style as Sooryavanshi picks up a fuller delivery and flicks it effortlessly over deep mid-wicket for a towering six, underlining his fearless approach.

With 23 off just 9 balls, Sooryavanshi looks in complete control, making batting appear almost effortless and keeping Rajasthan Royals firmly ahead in the early chase.

Rajat Patidar continues to fight a lone battle for Royal Challengers Bengaluru as he produces a stunning counterattack against Ravi Bishnoi in the 17th over.

He repeats the treatment on the very next delivery, this time smashing it over deep mid-wicket for back-to-back maximums, shifting the momentum instantly.

A single follows as Patidar looks for the big shot again but mistimes it towards long-on. Iyer then rotates strike before managing just one more off the final ball, which is well stopped by Ravindra Jadeja near the boundary.

Despite losing wickets earlier, RCB continue to keep the scoreboard moving at a strong rate, with Patidar’s explosive hitting ensuring they remain in the hunt for a competitive finish.

RR vs RCB Live Score: Strategic Break!

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have lost seven wickets, but they are still scoring at over nine runs per over, thanks largely to skipper Rajat Patidar. If he bats through the death overs, RCB could still eye a total in the 190–200 range.

For Rajasthan Royals, the key will be to remove Patidar quickly and wrap up the tail to restrict the opposition. Ravi Bishnoi will resume proceedings after the break.
