Buldhana: A 35-year-old man allegedly tossed his four minor children into a well and later died by suicide in the same waterbody in a village in Jalgaon Jamod tehsil of Buldhana district late Sunday. The deceased include Vijay Musa Kiradiya, 35, and his children — Preet, 7, Prachi, 5, Purvi, 4, and Piyush, 2 — residents of Rajura (Bk) village. Jalgaon Jamod police rushed to the spot and recovered all five bodies after an SOS from villagers about bodies floating in a well at Bhale Anjan village. The bodies were sent to a rural hospital for autopsy.
A preliminary probe indicated the murder-and-suicide may have been triggered by a domestic dispute. As per police, Kiradiya frequently argued with his wife and sent her to her parent's home. He had been living alone with the children for the past few days.
"Kiradiya threw the children into the well before attempting suicide by hanging with a rope from the wooden structure that holds the grooved pulley wheel to draw water. The structure collapsed and he fell into the well and died by drowning," a police official said.
Jalgaon Jamod police station in-charge Nitin Patil confirmed that a murder case has been registered against the father of four under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. "Further investigation is underway," he added.
Senior police officials visited the site, and investigations are continuing to determine the sequence of events. Authorities said all possible angles are being examined.
