Bhovi corporation chief urges community women to be self-reliant

Mysuru: Karnataka Bhovi Development Corporation chairman M Ramappa on Tuesday urged women from the Bhovi community to form associations and self-help groups to achieve financial stability and self-reliance through govt-backed loan schemes.Addressing a progress review meeting at the zilla panchayat auditorium, he said women’s SHGs with at least 10 members are eligible for support under the microcredit scheme, including a subsidy of Rs 2.5 lakh and a bank loan of Rs 2.5 lakh for production-based activities. He asked women and child development officials and community leaders to create awareness and encourage eligible women to avail of the scheme.Ramappa also stressed that no Bhovi student should be deprived of education, directing officials to ensure hostel facilities and timely issuance of caste certificates for those seeking admission to schools and colleges.Managing director Chandra Nayak outlined various welfare schemes of the corporation, including self-employment loans, dairy farming, sheep and goat rearing, entrepreneurship development, the Swavalambi Sarathi Scheme, Ganga Kalyana Scheme, and land ownership initiatives.ZP CEO Yukesh Kumar said beneficiaries without prior bank loans would not face issues due to zero CIBIL scores and called for better coordination between banks and beneficiaries to ensure effective implementation of schemes.
