Missing e-rickshaw driver found dead in drain
Meerut: An 18-year-old e-rickshaw driver who had been missing for two days was found dead in a drain in Bulandshahr district on Tuesday, police said. The body of Vipin Kumar, a resident of Salempur Kayasth village in the Sikandrabad area, was recovered from a sack found in a drain along Khurja Road and was later identified by his sister.Preliminary examination revealed rope marks around the victim’s neck, leading investigators to suspect that he was strangled before his body was dumped in the drain, police said.A case has been registered against two named accused, both minors, based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family under BNS sections 103 (murder) and 238 (destruction of evidence). Bulandshahr SSP Dinesh Kumar said, “The suspects have been taken into custody for questioning and all angles, including personal enmity, are being investigated.”The incident triggered protests by family members and villagers, who blocked a highway outside Sikandrabad police station demanding swift action against those responsible. Police later dispersed the protesters.
