Zumba voter awareness event held at Periyar bus stand

Madurai: Madurai's Periyar bus stand hosted a mass Zumba performance under the systematic voters' education and electoral participation (SVEEP) on Monday as a voter awareness activity for the public.A group of trained performers showcased a Zumba routine with synchronised, choreographed movements and rhythmic music, which many passengers witnessed. The dance routine included voter awareness messages, with gestures such as pressing the button on an electronic voting machine (EVM), raising inked fingers and celebrating the power of each vote. Participants held up a banner and released a large balloon, urging people to vote.District election officer and collector K J Praveen Kumar said the activity was aimed to reinforce that every vote matters and every citizen played a role in strengthening democracy.
