Madurai: Several
AIADMK councillors jointly submitted a petition to the Madurai range DIG on Friday, seeking expedition of investigation into the complaint alleging financial irregularities in the Madurai corporation.
The councillors led by Solai Raja, opposition leader of the Madurai corporation council, alleged that the investigation conducted during the
DMK regime into the matter was not satisfactory and was carried out with the sole purpose of protecting those involved.
He said after the formation of the new govt, an impartial and transparent investigation must be conducted into the corporation’s ₹200-crore property tax irregularity complaint. Raja demanded that the investigation identify the real culprits, and ensure appropriate action against them according to the law.
“Whoever is involved in this, action must be taken against them according to the law without partiality. If the tax money of the public has been used irregularly, action must be taken to recover that fund and return it to the corporation,” he said.
