Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of obstructing the process of justice by not dismissing Union minister of state for home Ajay Kumar Mishra. Union minister’s son in 14-day judicial custody as SIT asks about bullet shells, location

Union minister of state for home Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish was sent to 14-day judicial custody after an intense 12 hours of interrogation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on the Lakhimpur Kheri violence in which he has been accused of killing four farmers. The SIT found Ashish "evasive" about his whereabouts at the time of the incident following which he was arrested on Saturday night. A medical team examined him in the crime branch office. He was then taken to a judicial magistrate who sent him to custody, senior prosecution officer SP Yadav said.

AISA stages protest near Amit Shah's residence, demands expulsion of Ajay Mishra

Members of the All India Students' Association (AISA) were detained on Sunday as they staged a protest near Union Home Minister Amit Shah's residence here demanding the expulsion of MoS Ajay Mishra in connection with the Lakhimpur incident. The Delhi Police detained 15-20 protestors as soon as they reached Shah's residence and took them to the Mandir Marg police station, where they continued their protest, the AISA said in a statement.

Lakhimpur violence: Ashish Mishra's whereabouts at time of incident in dispute

A forensic team was dispatched to Lakhimpur Kheri for recreating the crime scene and assisting Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by DIG Upendra Agarwal in investigations into the violence, which claimed eight lives. The SIT sources said that Ashish Mishra was not able to tell his whereabouts at the time of the incident.
