FIR after UPPSC flags false online posts on Lekhpal Main exam
Lucknow: An FIR against unidentified persons was registered at Vibhuti Khand police station in Lucknow on Monday for spreading rumours and misleading information regarding the Lekhpal Main Examination conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC).The case was lodged following a formal complaint submitted by the Commission alleging that certain anti-social elements circulated false and misleading posts on social media platforms in an attempt to create confusion among candidates and tarnish the image of the recruitment process.Police said an investigation has been initiated and will be closely monitored by senior officers, including DCP (East) Deeksha Sharma, additional DCP (East) Amol Murkut and ACP Vibhuti Khand Vinay Diwedi. In its complaint, the Commission stated that the Lekhpal Main Examination was conducted in a “completely fair, transparent and integrity-driven manner” across 861 examination centres located in 44 districts of Uttar Pradesh.Officials said despite extensive arrangements to ensure transparency and security during the examination process, several misleading and unverified claims were circulated online after the examination.
The Commission alleged that the social media posts were aimed at misleading aspirants, disrupting official work and creating unnecessary panic regarding the credibility of the examination.Earlier, the Commission also issued a public advisory urging candidates not to rely on rumours, unauthorised social media posts or unverified information related to the examination process.Police officials said cyber teams are examining social media posts, digital accounts and online activity linked to the circulation of the alleged misinformation. Legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
