Govt employee attacked in Entally, 1 held

Kolkata: A govt employee, Hafijur Rahaman (32), was allegedly assaulted and wrongfully restrained by a group of men inside an Entally office while performing official duties on Tuesday afternoon. Police have arrested the prime accused, Avijit Das (36), and launched a search for his aides.Rahaman, a resident of Bechulal Road, was on duty at an Ananda Palit Road office when Das allegedly barged in along with several others. Police said the group cornered Rahaman, verbally abused him and physically assaulted him. They also allegedly threatened him with serious consequences if he continued carrying out his official duties in the area.Rahaman sustained multiple injuries and was taken to NRS Hospital, where he received treatment and was discharged in the evening. tnn
