Kolkata: City-based Anmol Industries Ltd, the fourth largest manufacturer in the country's biscuits and bakery industry, is focusing on urban markets to raise its turnover in the next few years from the existing Rs 2,000 crore. Currently, Bengal market contributes about 20% of its turnover, which is around Rs 400 crore."As of now, we have six manufacturing plants in the country, one at Dankuni, one at Bhubaneswar, two in Bihar and two in UP. With an investment of Rs 250 crore, we set up our second manufacturing unit at Thakurganj in Bihar last year. All our plants are modernised at present and our production is diversified in different segments such as biscuits, cakes, cookies and croissants. We are awaiting the new industry policy to plan new investment in the state," said managing director Bimal Kumar Choudhary, at a distributor meet held in the city.The company has about 6,000 distributors in the country while 500 of them are in Bengal. "We are following an omni-channel strategy to expand our business in urban areas. Currently, around 65% of our business comes from the rural parts," he added.
