Six houses burgled in a night in Kolhapur village; two masked men caught on CCTV

Kolhapur: Burglars broke into six locked houses in the Gudal village of Kolhapur's Radhanagari tehsil late on Monday night, making away with a bike, silver articles and cash amounting to about Rs 55,000, the police said on Tuesday.The burglaries took place between 10pm on Monday and 5am on Tuesday when the houses were closed as the families were away. CCTV footage shows two masked men roaming the village streets and targeting houses that were locked from outside, indicating no occupants inside.Inspector Sachin Suryawanshi, of the Radhanagari police station, said special teams have been formed to trace the accused and investigate their movements through CCTV footage. "The thieves were looking for locked houses and broke into them. In one case, a resident reported that his bike, parked outside the house at 10pm, was missing the next morning," he said.Villagers said incidents of theft have occurred earlier as well, mainly in houses that were temporarily locked after families moved out for short periods, raising concerns over security in the area.
