Allahabad HC Judge Recuses Himself From Rahul Gandhi's Dual Citizenship Case

A defamation case involving a 90-year-old woman from Mumbai has been adjourned by the Bombay High Court until 2046 after settlement efforts failed. The dispute stems from a South Mumbai housing society issue nearly a decade ago, where the woman was allegedly referred to as a “defaulter” in meeting records over maintenance-related disagreements. Claiming damage to her reputation, she filed a ₹20 crore defamation suit against members of the society’s managing committee. During recent proceedings, the court suggested an unconditional apology as a possible settlement, which the defendants accepted. However, the petitioner refused to settle, choosing to continue the legal battle. Observing the prolonged nature of the dispute, the court adjourned the matter to 2046, effectively setting the next hearing two decades later.
