Two arrested for drug possession

Kochi: City police seized narcotic substances in two separate incidents and arrested two people on Wednesday.Cheranelloor police seized 247g of methamphetamine and 250g of hybrid ganja from Jismon Varghese, 24, of Ezhupunna at Cheranelloor signal junction during patrolling.Police were patrolling the junction following a tip-off that large quantities of narcotic products were reaching Ernakulam by parcel. Police initiated an investigation into the source of the drugs.According to police, Varghese orders narcotic substances from Bangaluru to Kerala by parcel and sells them in small packets. Palakkad excise officials had registered a case against him in 2023 in connection with a narcotic case.Meanwhile, Kochi Dansaf team arrested Hriday, 18, of West Bengal at Eloor and seized 13.6kg ganja from his possession.Man held for molesting woman: Palarivattom police arrested a man on charges of molesting a woman by barging into her room at a hostel near Palarivattom Metro station. The accused was identified as Robin Das, 39, of Alappuzha.The incident happened around 4am on May 12 when the woman was sleeping in her room. When the man tried to sexually assault her, the woman raised alarm forcing him to flee. She filed a complaint with the police the next morning.Police arrested the accused after examining around 200 surveillance cameras installed around the hostel and nearby places. He was arrested from Edappally with the assistance of cyber cell. Das was produced in court which remanded him in judicial custody.
